ALICE IN WINTER WONDERLAND

By Irmak Değertekin

Down the rabbit hole

Alice fell

Into the wonderland

And never came back

She tried different sizes

Went through different doors

Her wonderland was the same

Until it wasn’t anymore

There weren’t many colors here

Unlike her wonderland

No talking flowers, only snowdrops

Barely visible on the white ground

Down the rabbit hole

Alice fell

But she couldn’t wear

Her blue, balloon dress

Instead she wore

A fluffy scarf and a puffy jacket

To not feel cold and to not drop dead

The wonderland wasn’t asleep

But the wonders were covered in winter

And the Wonderers weren’t cold

But the teapot couldn’t keep in the warmth with all the new cookies

All flavoured with ginger

The caterpillar didn’t blow the smoke in circles

In winter he blew it in different shaped snowflakes

And hatter was not only mad

But his head was cold even with his big tall hat

The sky was as blue as ever

With the Cheshire cat’s smile disguised as the moon

And he would come down under the christmas trees

To wink and steal presents

He’ll hide them till june

The white roses that were once colored red

Regained their white

And even the red queen with the big red hair

Wore a slightly whiter gown tonight

In alice’s winter wonderland

Everything was a little more white
