Red
by Mehmet Polat
Red was the colour of his right cheek
His lovers became very meek
For he was whom they seek
They gave a look, then a glance, then a peek.
Red was the colour of his left cheek
His lovers toppled him with great disbelief
He was coveted by none for his beef
He couldn’t stand wind, like a leaf
And there started a hurricane.
Grey was the colour of his heart
But for once, in this very valentine’s day
He had hopes to blush
He might as well
Isn’t that swell!
It was only then,
Red was the colour of his face.
