The cities of man, established in the days of old, lived in peace through the harmony of mind and heart. The people were filled with no ill intents whatsoever and conflicts were a remnant of a bygone era. The desires of heart and the guidance of mind were both acknowledged by mankind and their harmonious bond established the concrete foundations of a society enduring countless millennia.

But, how has this harmony been achieved? What came before this long era of utopia?

When the world was young, the Gods of Love and Reason, Apollo and Dionysus sought alone to rule the fate of mankind. One bringing wit and wisdom, one bringing love and emotion; they tore humans apart. Some trusting the guidance of their heart only, perished their self-indulgence. Whilst the ones caring only for wits lived devoid of emotion and started to lose the ability to feel, which was what made them humans. Many wars were fought under the banners of the two Olympians for ages. Apollo and Dionysus, in their blinded desire to rule the way they see fit, remained ignorant to the harm and destruction they were inflicting upon the very things they sought to rule. It wasn’t until the cries of a great unknown were heard that the fighting was abruptly paused. Even the Olympians were astounded by the cries of this great mysterious force. He had come out of nowhere and caught the attention of every human being and Olympian. He made the Olympians aware of how they had been deranging mankind and how they must put an end to the unending wars and conflicts at once. The Gods saw the wisdom in his words and named him Cygnus the God of Balance. Since that time, reason and emotion have been acknowledged in harmony. Cygnus was celebrated and worshipped by the people.

In the recent ages, however, the balance between love and reason has weakened and the peace that was once present in the hearts of all was slowly but surely fading away. People started to forget the ancient wars of old and how they were saved by Cygnus. The Gods had slowly withdrawn from the lives of mankind for they feared that they might cause another great division. Little by little, they began to neglect the lives and dealings of men entirely. As for Cygnus, he remained a prominent figure among humans and he was loved and praised by everyone. One day, however, Cygnus suddenly went missing and hasn't been heard from ever since. Since his disappearance, the division between mind and heart has slowly started to creep back into the lives of people.

Anakalypsi was a fellow living in Primus, the capital of Earth and the first established city of man in the time of the Olympians. He had an ordinary life but he was not an ordinary fellow like most were. He was deeply interested in the folklore, as regarded by many, of the days of old. Even though he believed in Cygnus unlike the majority of the population, he was sceptical of this belief. He did not associate the decline of peace in society with the alleged disappearance of Cygnus as some highly religious minorities did. He felt like his only connection to Cygnus was his family since they were one of the more religious groups in society.

One day, Anakalypsi was wandering in the streets when he heard someone calling his name. He thought nothing of it as he saw that there was no one around him. Shortly after, he heard the same voice again and started to grow suspicious. He stayed on high alert but the voice did not call his name again that day. He didn’t think too much of the odd phenomenon he had encountered. But that night, just as he was about to fall asleep, his mind was haphazardly filled with a sudden curiosity, his heart started to beat faster with confusion and a strange excitement. He couldn’t help but get up and walk out of his house. He had no idea where he was headed as he had no control over his feet. Suddenly he started to hear the same voice repeat his name over and over again. He felt like he was moving closer to the source of the voice but still had no idea where he was headed. Then all went black for Anakalypsi and the next thing he felt was the feeling of falling until he crashed on the ground with a heavy thud.

When he woke up, he was quite confused and wondered to himself, “What an odd dream that was!” Unfortunately for him, he was terribly mistaken. Anakalypsi was filled with panic as he observed his surroundings and came to the realisation that he was in a deep pit where the sunlight barely reached him. He jolted up and started to run around the small space he was trapped in, screaming and shouting for someone to help him out of this nightmarish pit.

From the exhaustion of running around and screaming for hours, he collapsed on the ground. He tried to fall asleep as he attempted to convince himself that this was just a horribly realistic dream and he would wake up in his cosy bed.

To his greatest displeasure, Anakalypsi woke up in the same pit and cried out in realisation that he was actually stuck in this hell hole. He tried his best to not give in to his despair and tried to think of ways out of the conundrum he was in. Firstly, he wondered how he was able to walk away unscathed from a fall that would surely kill any mortal human in ordinary circumstances. He became sure that his fall could not have been caused naturally and started to speculate that supernatural forces might be at play. Walking around the pit, he noticed odd runes on the walls covered with moss, indicating that these carvings were rather old. As he was exploring his natural prison, he heard the same voice calling his name again. He swiftly turned in the direction of the voice and walked until he reached the wall. He stroked his hand across the runes and noticed a small rock protruding out of it. He nudged the rock and he was startled by the movement of the rock into the wall. Suddenly, a delicately carved crack started to open up and Anakalypsi was greeted with a long and dark tunnel. Dumbfounded by this unforeseen revelation, Anakalypsi was taken aback but a strange feeling inside him called for him to go forth into the tunnel. Right as he took a step on the newly appeared pathway, the walls of the tunnel lit up with a great white light welcoming Anakalypsi deeper into the tunnel.
